Call for Special Sessions Print

The ISCAS 2010 technical program will include special sessions. Their objective is to complement the regular program with new or emerging topics of particular interest to the circuits and systems community that may also cut across and beyond disciplines traditionally represented at ISCAS. Special sessions in line with the conference theme “Nano-Bio Circuit Fabrics and Systems” are especially welcome.

Prospective organizers of special sessions should submit proposals indicating:
  • title of the session
  • rationale of the need for the special session at ISCAS. The rationale should stress the novelty of the topic and /or its multidisciplinary flavor, and must explain how it is different from the subjects covered by the regular sessions
  • short biography of the organizers
  • list of five (5) contributed papers (including titles, authors, contact information of the corresponding author, and an abstract of each contribution).  It is recommended that the first paper be a tutorial in the field, of overview character, in order to introduce a non-specialist CAS audience to the subject.
Endorsement of the proposal by at least one CAS technical committee is encouraged, but not required for consideration. The proposal contributors cannot serve as endorser of the same proposal.  The endorsement letters need to describe the endorser’s opinions about the proposed session suitability for a special session.

Proposals are due on or before 11 September 2009 and should be sent via e-mail (in either pdf or plain ascii text form) to the Special Sessions chairs, Pau-Choo Chung ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ) and Adrian Ioinovici ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it ).  Proposals will be evaluated based on the timeliness of the topic, the qualifications of the organizers and the authors of the papers proposed in the session. Sessions dealing with emerging technologies or sessions whose subjects are at the crossroad of other CAS fields will be preferred. International representation of the contributors in a special session is desired. Sessions in which two or more papers are authorized by the same person, or by scientists from the same group will not be accepted. In its decision, the committee will try to realize a balance of the topics across the technical areas represented in CAS. Note that Special session proposals on topics that clearly belong to well acceded (sub)tracks of ISCAS will not be accepted.

Notification of acceptance will be sent to the organizers by 2 October 2009. Authors of papers included in successful proposals should submit a manuscript on or before 30 October 2009. Manuscripts should conform to the formatting and electronic submission guidelines of regular ISCAS papers. They will undergo peer review. It is the responsibility of the organizers to ensure that their Special Session meets the ISCAS quality standards. If, at the end of the review process, less than four (4) papers are accepted, the session will be cancelled and the accepted papers will be moved to regular sessions.
